Kestrel, kingfisher & green woodpecker
A kestrel was posing in the car park, kingfisher at Scrape hide and the green woodpecker on the long path.
It was great while it lasted but the osprey has moved on. This week we enjoyed a kestrel perching on the posts in the car park and on trees around the site.
A kingfisher has been spotted at Scrape hide and on the Arun Riverlife lagoon. The green woodpecker was seen along the long path and on Wetland Discovery again this week. A couple of wigeon were seen between Ramsar and Sand martin hides on Tuesday.
A great white egret and a little egret were recorded on Wednesday and we are getting the cattle egrets roosting at the Scrape hide overnight.

Ramsar and Sand Martin hide: 19 wood pigeons, 2 shelducks, 39 Canada geese, 2 moorhens, 2 cormorants, 13 gadwall, 11 shovelers,1 Cettis’s warbler, 4 mallard, 1 coot, 1 lapwing, 1 robin, 1 great white egret, 2 herring gulls, 2 Egyptian geese, 4 cackling X barnacle geese, tufted ducks, 2 wigeon, 3 teal, 1 black-headed gulls
Scrape hide: 1 little grebe
Approach to Sand Martin hide: (pm) Cetti’s warblers, flock of long tailed tits, 1 greenfinch, 1 robin
Reedbed: 1 squealing water rail.
