Whilst our Welney Wetland Centre is closed to the public, our much reduced team continue working behind the scenes. Caring for the wetland habitat and wildlife, bringing the reserve to you the only way we currently can on the website and social media.

Hopefully these weekly updates from the site will help you keep connected to our wildlife, the essential work that is carrying on and pull together links across our website and projects which you might find interesting.
We continue to prepare for a June re-opening, with safety measures being installed throughout the site.
The first godwit chick has now been spotted out on the reserve.We have also seen lapwing chicks, shelduck ducklings, mallard ducklings, coot chicks, mute and whooper swan cygnets J More dragonflies and damselflies out on the wing, including emperor dragonfly patrolling the open water of the ditches. Meadow rue and marsh woundwort are now coming out into flower.
The replacement of decking from the bridge down to the main observatory veranda has now been completed, so will be ready for when visitors can be welcomed back.
