Swan numbers increasing

After a count of the swans at Welney this morning we now have over 1,000 whooper swans.  Bewick's swan numbers have not increased yet, we need some cold, Easterly winds for that!  Brrrr!

The main lagoon looked stunning this morning with flocks of wigeon, teal, lapwing and black-tailed godwit.  Pochard numbers are incereasing as are pintail so there wasn't much free space on the water's surface or the islands - it was fantastic.  Good numbers of swans are flying onto the main lagoon each evening which is promising for our evening floodlit feeds which start this Sunday, 1 November, at 6.30pm.

Details of all our swan feeds can be found by clicking here.
