All hides except Gill's Lookout are accessible to everyone today, including with mobility scooters. Water levels are continuing to drop. Lady Fen trails are now closed until after breeding season, but great views from cafe veranda. All roads including A1101 Welney Wash Road are open.

Ringed swans at WWT Welney

A few more swans have been identified on the reserve this morning and out in the fields during the day.

J9V (Yellow ring) - Old Bedford, a male swan ringed at WWT Welney in 2007 and a winter regular ever since.
J57 (yellow ring) - a male swan ringed in Iceland in 2001, has wintered at WWT Caerlaverock, WWT Martin Mere and WWT Welney in the years since.
BVH (yellow ring) - a female cygnet of J57 ringed in Iceland this summer.  This is her first winter in the UK, having just traveled 1,200 miles with her parents and the rest of her cygnet siblings.  This family group were spotted to the West of the Ouse washes in the fields of sugar beet tops feeding up today.
