Mudfest 2027

Go mad for mud at WWT Llanelli

Mud isn’t just messy - it’s marvellous. It’s the stuff our super-powered wetlands and great family adventures are made of. For one week only this February half term, embrace the mess and discover just how brilliant mud can be!

Daily Mudfest activities include:

• Mud kitchens – cook up a muddy (but definitely not tasty!) masterpiece
• Puddle jumping – splash through puddles big and small (because clean clothes are overrated!)
• Mud slinging – scoop, sling, and score in the ultimate muddy showdown
• Messy art – create your own gloriously muddy work of art

Embrace the mess, unleash your creativity, and celebrate the wonder of wetlands at Mudfest!

Mudfest FAQs

What is Mudfest?

Mudfest is a fun-filled outdoor event at WWT Llanelli. It is designed for families to stomp, splash and squelch in nature and encourages children to enjoy messy, muddy play, explore wetlands, and connect with nature on a great day out.

What should we wear?

Waterproofs, wellies and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. Trust us - clean clothes are overrated!

Will there be clean-up facilities?

Handwashing sinks and welly washes are available on site. We recommend bringing towels and spare clothes for the journey home.

Is Mudfest accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs?

Most pathways at WWT Llanelli are accessible - but muddy areas may be challenging. Please contact us for further information before you visit.

Does mud make you happy?

Yes, the science has spoken and the fancy stuff found in soil can induce the production of serotonin; the chemical that makes our brains feel happy. If that’s not a reason to try mudslinging and mud sculpting, we don’t know what is!
