About the Artist

Gwen in her own words:

Gwen Berry is an award winning, locally-based, wildlife photographer whose work explores the natural beauty of the world around us. Her photography focuses primarily on landscapes and wildlife, especially our local forests, wetlands and historic towns and villages. She captures moments and images that are sometimes overlooked but often precious.

Gwen’s practice began as a way of self healing. Drawn to wild open spaces during a period of personal upheaval, she found grounding in observing and recording the changing landscapes and wildlife around her. This evolved into a visual practice rooted in respect for nature and wildlife, using natural light and recording authentic behaviour.

Exhibiting at Welney Wetland Centre, a site of national conservational importance, is central to her practice. Wetlands are ecosystems of balance and vulnerability, shaped by, sometime dramatic, changes in water, weather, and time. Capturing some of these moments through her lens is a privilege and a joy, and through her images, Gwen invites viewers to share the joy that a moment in nature brings.
